Tracey Boyce has had a diverse career spanning many aspects of Australia's health system, underpinned throughout by a deep commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable communities. She has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Science from the University of Canberra, with which she worked as a pathology scientist in Brisbane and as a veterinary virologist with the Queensland Department of Primary Industries in Townsville. Tracey has also provided clinical care as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife. More recently, she has taken on active public health roles: she led ACT Health's COVID-19 Case Liaison Team during the early pandemic response, and subsequently worked within the Australian Federal Police's organisational health unit, where she advised on travel medicine and developed the rapid antigen testing guidelines. Tracey completed a Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine at James Cook University in 2024, with her research dissertation focusing on socio-economic determinants of childhood diarrhoea and acute respiratory infection in Samoa and Tonga — work that reflects her longstanding interest in communicable disease in Pacific Island settings. She is currently enrolled in the Master of Philosophy (Applied Epidemiology) at the Australian National University, where she is deepening her analytical and field-based epidemiological skills with the goal of generating evidence-based public health impact across Australia and the Pacific region.
