Getaneh Mulus is a PhD candidate at the Curtin School of Population Health, Curtin University, specialising in perinatal epidemiology. He completed masters of science in pediatrics and child health at Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia and a Research Master’s in Clinical and Psychosocial Epidemiology at the University of Groningen (2023), Netherlands, where his thesis explored the relationship between early gestational weight gain and adverse birth outcomes, including the mediating effect of late gestational weight gain using mediation analysis.
He has strong expertise in quantitative methods, including regression modelling, causal mediation analysis, and the management of large datasets using R and Stata. His research centres on adverse perinatal outcomes, with a particular emphasis on socioeconomic inequalities in perinatal health across both low- and high-income settings, aiming to promote equitable access to perinatal care.
Getaneh has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles and previously served as a researcher and lecturer at Debre Berhan University in Ethiopia. His work covers maternal health, adverse pregnancy outcomes, and child development, contributing to evidence-based approaches to improving perinatal outcomes worldwide
